Your role
Joining an ambitious and dynamic project, you will be part of the GP project team in Ghent as a Project Engineer. Your experience will be key in supporting the team in handling the delivery on time and within budget of this major project.
Main tasks
· Responsible for the project management of all project delivery tasks on a specific subarea/WBS of the GP project. Tasks/subarea can be changed during the project.
o Following areas (not limitative) could be assigned to you :
§ New Electrical Supply HV-MV-LV
§ Cooling circuits
§ Slag Storage and Handling
§ Site preparations
o Relevant technical experience in any of these domains is required
The role of a Project Engineer in the project is critical to the success of the team and the achievement of project goals. Here are key responsibilities and characteristics associated with the role of a Project Engineer:
· Leadership:
o Provide clear direction and vision for the team.
o Motivate and inspire team members to achieve their best performance as stated by the project delivery manager
· Communication:
o Clearly convey project goals, expectations, and any changes.
o Act as a liaison between team members and upper management.
· Task Assignment:
o Delegate tasks based on team members’ skills and strengths.
o Ensure a balanced workload and equitable distribution of responsibilities.
· Decision-Making:
o Make informed and timely decisions for the benefit of the project.
o Involve team members in decision-making when appropriate.
o Take responsibility for decisions and their consequences.
· Goal Setting:
o Collaborate with team members to set clear and achievable goals.
o Break down larger project goals into smaller, manageable tasks.
o Monitor progress and adjust goals as needed.
· Resource Management:
o Manage team resources effectively, including time and budget.
o Identify and address any resource constraints or challenges.
o Optimize resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
· Feedback:
o Provide constructive feedback to help team members improve, set clear milestones for the team members to work towards.
· Risk Management:
o Identify potential risks to the project and develop mitigation strategies.
o Anticipate challenges and work proactively to address them.
o Keep the team informed about potential risks and changes.
· Quality Assurance:
o Ensure that work meets quality standards and project requirements.
o Conduct regular reviews and inspections to identify and correct issues.
· You will coach and train project team members on all aspects of project management.

- Periodic internal reviews and coordination with stakeholders to address gaps and follow-through resolution.
· Proactively escalate any project governance issues that are creating a barrier to project delivery in a timely manner and make suggestions for how they might be brought back to plan.
· Drive continuous process improvements through the project lifecycle, by using lessons learnt and identifying opportunities.
· Analyse improvement areas identified via maturity assessment, evaluate use cases & prioritize and propose actions.
· You will support and report to the lead project delivery of the GP project
What we’re looking for
· Master/Bacholor degree in engineering or equivalent professional technical education
· +5 or +15 years experience as a Project Engineer in a similar role (we are looking for medior and senior profiles)
· Experience in working with EPCM or EPC companies
· Expertise in Project Management with professional certification in PMI or Prince2.
· Goal oriented, results driven, takes initiative, leadership and attention to detail.
· Effective communicator, with ability to deal ability to proactively deal with senior executives and stakeholders, persuading them to meet deadlines.
· Proven people management skills .
· Knowledge of the Dutch language is a prerequisite .
· Regular travels to Spain (Madrid, Bilbao). 25%-50% travelling depending on the phase of project
· Project language is English
· Project duration 3-4 years
· Preferred starting date : as soon as possible
· Main working place is in Ghent, Belgium .
