The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop scalable technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. One part of the solution is to design, develop, and deploy cleanup systems to clean up the legacy of plastic in our oceans.

As Head of Offshore project, you will be responsible for managing the engineering, manufacturing and offshore execution of our ocean cleanup projects. Externally you will manage various suppliers and partners, such as services providers, manufacturing suppliers and our offshore operators. In addition, you will interface with external stakeholders such as governmental bodies and local authorities. Responsibilities

As Head of Offshore project, you will be responsible for managing the engineering, manufacturing, and offshore execution of our ocean cleanup projects. Your responsibilities include:

  • Meet the project targets in terms of safety, quality, timeliness and budget
  • Coordinating a cross-functional team and external stakeholders
  • Drive the cooperation with partners, suppliers and (internal & external) stakeholders
  • Support team members where needed, ensuring their personal growth, while giving ad hoc and scheduled feedback
  • Project management groundwork: planning development, risk assessments, managing budgets, document control, etc.

Professional qualifications

  • Master’s degree engineering with additional training in project management
  • Academic-level thinking and communication skills
  • 10 years’ work experience in project/installation management in an offshore environment of complex and schedule driven projects
  • Proven track record in creating/managing planning and budget control
  • Relevant experience in working with external partners and managing contracts
  • Fluent in English
